Types of Sensor

PIR Sensor (Passive Infrared)
  • Measures infrared radiation from objects in the field of view
  • Passive: Does not produce any energy
  • Detects relative change in temp
  • Needs line of sight

MW Sensor (Microwave)

  • Produces continuous microwaves
  • Detects changes in microwaves (movement)
  • Does not need line of sight

  • Sensor will turn on when a person enters the zone of detection

  • Detects movement
  • Not requested often
  • Must be turned on by a switch
