[July 28, 2017](https://news.kellihers.com/news/solar-pv-demonstration-cork) Consultants, contractors and the general public thronged to Kellihers' Tramore Road branch in Cork on [Friday 07 July](http://kellihers.com/news/kellihers-cork-solar-pv-open-day/) for an exhibition demonstrating the potential of solar energy solutions to Irish homes and businesses. ![](https://news.kellihers.com/hs-fs/hubfs/Imported_Blog_Media/IMG_4524-2-300x225.jpg?width=300&height=225&name=IMG_4524-2-300x225.jpg) The Tramore Road Branch recently upgraded its Solar PV system, installing 48 Solar PV panels covering 80 square metres of roof space. According to estimates the new system should save the branch in excess of €60,000 over the next 30 years. "We've already taken LED lighting upgrades, improved the efficiency of our appliances and looked at how we can reduce waste," said Ed Mortell, Kellihers' deputy CEO. "Solar PV was the next logical step. We're very impressed with the savings so far, and the installation caused no disruption to our business. Visitors also got to quiz the system installers [PV Generation](http://pvgeneration.ie/), our solar technology suppliers Fronius and Trina Solar and to Waterpower, suppliers of green electricity and a company that readily buys surplus Solar PV electricity from homes and businesses.
