At Kellihers we believe it's important to practice what we preach, to embrace the technologies and products we offer to our customers, and to make it easy for you to see these technologies in action. That's why we teamed up with our renewable energy division, Rexel Energy Solutions, and a local installer, to fit a brand new vertically mounted Solar PV array to our Tramore Road branch in Cork.

As part of a new programme to demonstrate the viability of Solar PV electricity systems in Ireland, Kellihers has installed a working Solar PV array on the side of it's Tramore Road branch in Cork.
The team in Cork worked with our renewable energy division, Rexel Energy Solutions and local installer PV Generation Ltd. to fit a 4 panel, 1kW array, which represents a typical system installed on a new build property to comply with Part L of the Building Regulations. The panels were installed vertically on a south facing wall using a canopy frame that allows all the cabling to be easily viewed.

Inside the store a string inverter, connected to the PV panels outside, is on display at the trade counter, and performance of the PV system can be conveniently viewed in real time on a tablet. Real time and historic performance data can also be viewed publicly via this webpage.

There are already plans to roll out another working Solar PV installation at the Kellihers Ballymount branch in Dublin over the coming months.

Products used in the Cork installation included:

  • Van der Valk Canopy System
  • Trina Honey M monocrystalline PV panels
  • Trannergy PVI string inverter
