Rexel investment in distribution centre and new branches will play key role in company’s future business in the country
French electrical wholesaler, Rexel Group, which is known in Ireland as Kellihers Electrical, is to open two new public trade stores and a distribution hub in Ireland.
The two stores, which are due to open later this year, are in South Dublin and Navan, Co Meath. To date, Kellihers has 24 stores across the Republic with further expansion planned for the south-east of the country. The group trades as CT Electric in Athlone, Ballina, Castlebar and Sligo and uses the Kellihers brand across the rest of the country.
In addition to the new trade stores, Rexel recently announced the opening of its first distribution hub in Ireland and will soon take up occupation at Unit G, a 9,005 square metre state-of-the-art logistics facility at Mountpark, Baldonnell, Dublin 22, when the building reaches practical completion.
Nicola Gilleece of Cushman & Wakefield said: “Rexel’s recent activity in the Irish market is testament to its continued commitment to the Irish market and economy, whilst continuing to serve the needs of electrical industry professionals across Ireland on a daily basis.”
Ciaran Foley, chief executive of Rexel Ireland and Kellihers Electrical said: “Our investment in this distribution centre and new branches shows the commitment of the Rexel Group to our business in Ireland. It allows us to continue to lead the market in customer service through an improved delivery promise, product availability and sustainability offer. This will play a key role in the future development of the Rexel business in Ireland.”
The Rexel Group currently operates in 21 countries, with more than 1,900 branches and employs over 26,000 people. In 2022, Rexel’s sales were €18.7 billion.
